Cockayne Syndrome

Introduction 

  • This disorder is named after Edward Alfred Cockayne, who was a London physician whose concentration was on hereditary disorders in children.

 

  • Its also known as
    • Weber-Cockayne syndrome,
    • Neill-Dingwall syndrome,
    • CS,
    • Dwarfism-retinal atrophy-deafness syndrome,
    • Progeria-Like Syndrome,
    • or progoroid nanism.

 

  •   And Cockayne syndrome has been recognized as an inherited disease since 1946.
