How Children Inherit Cockayne Syndrome...

 How its inherited...

  • Cockayne syndrome is inherited from a person's parents and isn’t a dominant or recessive disorder, its known as autosomal which means both parents have the same abnormal gene which they have to contribute to their child for the child to be affected. In other words, If a mother is a carrier of the disorder but a father is not, then a child can't inherit the disorder because both the mother and father have to be a carrier of the disorder to give the mutated gene to their child.

 Punnett Square Key...

  • A- dominant not having cockayne syndrome
  • a- recessive having cockayne syndrome
  • The only reason this isn't a sex linked recessive disorder is because BOTH parents have to give the SAME abnormal gene to pass on the disorder.
